Jamaican Olympic Ice Hockey Federation A Member of the IIHF
THE BEGINNING
IN DENVER, COLORADO THIS CONVERSATION TOOK PLACE:
“Hi, this is E.J. I’m working on a project that is very close to my heart. My father is working with me.
I would be honored to have you to participate in this endeavor.
I have found a way to merge my passion for hockey with my love for my Jamaican heritage: I am submitting the first Jamaican Olympic Ice Hockey team to the Winter Olympics!!
You can participate as MUCH as you wish – your support, credentials and loyalty are vital to our purpose and this project.
I have a team of strategists in California working with me and we are at the point now where we need to set up a team of delegates to go to Jamaica, and a board of directors. I thought you would be perfect…”
THAT was the beginning of the launching of THE JAMAICAN OLYMPIC ICE HOCKEY TEAM and its upcoming participation in the 2018 OLYMPICS!
JOIHF submitted its application to the International Ice Hockey Federation and was accepted as an Associate Member in May 2012. A transition plan will be submitted to the IIHF for Full Membership.
JOIHF plans to build an indoor ice/inline rink in Kingston, Jamaica to begin recruiting and establishing its Youth and Adult ice/inline hockey programs. JOIHF intends to expand to other areas of Jamaica itself and then embrace additional islands of the West Indies.
