Don Anderson

Don Anderson has certainly captured the attention of many all over the world – especially in Jamaica’s involvement of sports within the last seven Olympic Games.  He has held positions of Management as well as Chief de Mission.  Mr. Anderson holds successful consummate businessman accolades – ‘the E.F. Hutton speaks’, in market research as CEO of his own company.  

 

With 32 years of working with the Jamaica Olympic Association (JOA) in top capacities (1st Vice President), Mr. Anderson’s sports and business acumen excels to the task of assisting JOIHF in meeting its goals of introducing the first Jamaica Ice Hockey team to the Olympics as well as training up and coming potential athlete players via its Grass Roots Program to aspire to greatness in hockey.  Besides an active sportsman himself representing Jamaica at Field Hockey, Squash as well as senior grade Cricket and Soccer, Mr. Anderson’s book, Seoul to Beijing – An inside view of Jamaica in the Olympic Games, attests to his love of his country championing its struggles – and outstanding, dedicated passion for all genres of Jamaica’s sports contributions and world records. A few of his accomplishments are:

 

  • Member of the management team for Jamaica at the last seven Olympic Games, head of the delegation for each of the last five (Atlanta 1996, Sydney 2000, Athens 2004, Beijing 2008 and London 2012) 

  • Vice President of the Jamaica Olympic Association from 1981-2013 

  • Director of Caribbean Association of National Olympic Committees, CANOC (a 26-country body) and director of CANOC Broadcasting Inc, (CBI) which has bought the television broadcast rights for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games 

  • Conferred the nation’s fifth highest honor, Order of Distinction, Commander Class (CD) in 2007 for excellence in sports administration

  • Director of the Central American and Caribbean Games organization since 2002 (responsible for the regional games involving 32 countries)

  • Member of the National Sports Council, governing body for sports in Jamaica, chaired by the Prime Minister

  • Chairman of the Government’s Institute of Sports since 2012

  • Chairman of the committee charged with the responsibility for the establishment of a National Sports Museum

 

Principal political pollster in Jamaica and the Caribbean since 1989, with accurate projections of the outcome of the last three national elections in Jamaica (2002, 2007, 2011), in Grenada (2013), Nevis (2013) and Antigua and Barbuda (June 2014) as well as successfully researched projections for various international businesses.   Honored by his peers with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his work in the field of Market Research.

Dorothy McLeod is the CEO and co-founder of Jamaica Cultural Alliance, a Los Angeles based non-profit organization, dedicated to cultural exchange. The organization serves as a facilitator to promote Jamaica, their native culture and multi-faced lifestyle through the arts and music in the Los Angeles area, the Hollywood entertainment community and the sports world.

 

Further, JCA is programmatically structured to facilitate the development of literature, education, music as well as the visual and performing arts - all of which have their roots in both Jamaican and Los Angeles communities. The general goal of the Jamaica Cultural Alliance is to promote the best of Jamaica - its people and their multi-faceted lifestyles - in order to clarify and enhance the image of Jamaica and the Caribbean at large.

 

As a native Jamaican who migrated to the USA, Ms. McLeod held positions of executive assistant to a high power television executive producer at Gaumont Distribution as well as publicist, and event coordinator. She also spent two years in civil service with the U. S. Treasury, Department of Customs, and Fair Housing under the Department of Housing and Urban Development. In 1999 Ms. McLeod established its Your Tour, a travel agency and consulting company. She has spearheaded many successful publicity campaigns for international clients including; Jamaica Ocho Rios International Jazz Festivals since 1965 (which she also co-produces); the Dominican Republic International Jazz Festival and the New Playwrights Foundation projects.

 

Ms McLeod holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in telecommunication from Columbia College Hollywood, and has taken many public relations courses at UCLA.
